Role Overview
Coforma is looking for a strong Senior Python Engineer to join our distributed team. 
You will join a company founded by three ex-U.S. Digital Service members with a mission to bring modern development, design, and product management practices to social impact companies in the private sector, and government agencies, working on meaningful social problems. We love working with like-minded technologists and creative problem solvers who wish to use their craft to do good in the world.
Our clients are working on meaningful challenges. Working with the government means that our employees must be able to work in regulated environments where checks and compliance are essential to success. You will likely have opportunities to both work on new products and services and legacy systems, but with both, you strive to create solutions that can adapt and continue to work well over time.
This is a remote-first role. When coronavirus breaks, some travel may be required. Today, due to COVID-19, no travel is anticipated or required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the product teams, government/client stakeholders, and other contractors to build new systems and make improvements to existing systems
  • Work with researchers, designers, government/client stakeholders, and other engineers to understand and articulate requirements and constraints
  • Articulate the benefits and risks associated with different approaches in different functional environments
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software applications 
  • Support new features and applications development to improve existing software 
  • Recommend improvements to current software programs as necessary 
  • Write and execute software test plans/procedures, including automated testing applications
  • Identify weaknesses or risks and make recommendations to mitigate 
  • Analyze problems and determine appropriate course correction measures as necessary 
  • Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation of applications 
  • Demonstrate a passion for learning, ability to create and adapt systems, and ability to collaborate with creative, technical, and business stakeholders and team members

  • 5+ years experience with Python
  • 3+ years web development experience
  • Experience with Django
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs
  • Enterprise architecture skills including application, information, and infrastructure
  • Significant breadth and depth of technologies in the areas of: Cloud solutions and deployments, preferable AWS and Azure; Services patterns, application containers, and API gateway management capabilities
  • Strong technical documentation skills
