The Director, Project Management Office (PMO), holds both leadership and management roles in a PMO. It is a highly visible role, responsible for the overall project management and governance function by providing leadership, coordination, and management of the PMO processes and functions. This position is responsible for various methods and best practices, improving the overall project portfolio management (PPM) maturity across the organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of all initiatives. As an arm of the overall governance function, the Director, PMO is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization's  and client’s projects, programs and structured work efforts as well as, ensuring that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to and aligns the strategy of the organization, while meeting the goals set for the enterprise by executive management.

In addition to the Project Management responsibilities, this role will also be responsible for Services Partner Strategy & Management which includes rates, margins, agreements, and overall execution of a strategy. 

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate among the PMO stakeholders and organizational leadership a consensus around the mission and vision of the PMO organization to foster a project management-oriented culture
  • Lead the identification and development of PMO roles, team configuration, and recruitment appropriate to deliver the goals and objectives
  • Lead the identification, implementation, and improvement of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, standards, and maturity roadmap to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders
  • Develop and manage the enterprise roadmap aligned to enterprise strategic initiatives
  • Define, manage, and direct the needed end-to-end PMO work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying, and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases
  • Lead the identification, development, implementation, and monitoring of project and portfolio KPIs, metrics, leading indicators, project trending, executive presentations, and portfolio status reports
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, and acts as a trusted advisor
  • Foster collaboration, strategic alignment and integrated planning and execution across multiple functions in a matrixed organization
  • Responsible for achieving key KPIs – Margins, Realization, Utilization, Revenue Targets, CSAT (and others as defined)

Your First 90 Days

First 30 Days

  • Attend Employee Orientation and meet Unanet team
  • Familiarize with internal tools and data (Salesforce, Unanet Production, Teamwork, etc.)
  • Understand existing processes from Sales to Support
  • Meet with key players to better understand the business including direct team members, peers, and other departments
  • Understand use of tools, and methodologies and service offerings
  • Review and understand baseline metrics

First 60 Days

  • Build out high-level project plan to consolidate tools and processes
  • Provide recommendation for tiered approach to team (roles, bill rate,  value, etc.)
  • Establish project team to implement new tools and processes
  • Provide recommendations to streamline processes
  • Understand areas of opportunity to streamline engagements with Professional Services
  • Provide recommendations regarding resource planning & capacity
  • Establish quarterly goals (team and individual) based on baseline metrics

First 90 Days

  • Review process to pull Operational Metrics in a repeatable fashion
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate metrics into a single dashboard
  • Adopt methodology to streamline business and ensure consistencies within business units and teams
  • Establish methodology for all businesses and work to implement across the teams

 Who You Are

  • 10+ years of relevant project and program management experience, including 5+ years of experience directing staff
  • Experience building & executing on Services Partner strategies
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams in an environment of competing interests and limited resources
  • Portfolio, Program and Project Management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application, such as and MS Project (which is highly desirable)
  • Strategic mindset to evolve an organization focused on portfolio, program, and project management and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience


  • 5+ years of building or transforming a PMO preferred
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams in an environment of competing interests and limited resources
  • PMP Certification
  • Prior experience with acquisitions and integrating them within the business
