As the Engineering Manager of the Frontend Platform team,  you will manage the team building the software that powers all of our web and mobile applications. In this role, you’ll act as a player-coach, both executing on technical projects, and growing and managing the team. Your team will be responsible for standardizing and scaling our frontend and React Native mobile codebases across all technical teams. You will need to be adaptive and passionate about frontend technology, build efficient and reusable front-end systems and abstractions, help find and address performance issues and identify and communicate front-end best practices. 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams
  • 6+ years shipping front-end / mobile code in high-quality production environments
  • Experience building platforms with React or similar framework
  • Able to provide technical guidance to teams on frontend / mobile development and drive adoption of best practices
  • Track record of partnering cross-functionally to build roadmaps and deliver quantifiable impact
  • Experience building & mentoring a diverse, inclusive engineering team, including recruiting, interviewing, and closing candidates

  • Experience re-architecting existing live frontend / mobile applications for scale
  • React Native experience
  • Experience architecting and deploying scalable development tooling and automation

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain a talented team of platform engineers
  • Drive projects from ideation to completion, including scoping, estimating and managing timelines, writing code, and ensuring quality execution
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to iterate on the platform and processes used to build features on patient and clinician facing applications
  • Architect an efficient and reusable frontend platform that powers all of Virta’s complex web and mobile applications
  • Contribute and promote frontend best practices across the broader engineering organization

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Dig into the execution and roadmap of the team as we continue the re-architecture of our frontend and mobile software
  • Build cross-team relationships critical to navigating the complex re-architecture efforts underway
  • Teach and inspire other engineering teams through seminars, knowledge sharing, and giving feedback in code reviews
  • Propose and implement one or more process improvements to make our engineering teams even better

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. Virta has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
