Project Manager (Independent Contractor)

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, is searching for a proactive individual with exceptional interpersonal, research, presentation and organizational skills for a new Project Manager position at Wolfram Research. This Project Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating a broad range of development activities for the user interface, mobile development and user experience teams at Wolfram. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment and, importantly, has a passion for discovering and testing new technologies.


  • Coordinating projects for the user interface, user experience and mobile groups
  • Monitoring the status and addressing risk and resource issues for the entire lifecycle of projects
  • Identifying, conveying and tracking project milestones
  • Identifying dependencies upon other groups and communicating with relevant personnel across the company
  • Creating project and process documentation
  • Taking meeting notes, creating agendas and tracking action items
  • Maintaining and monitoring app store presence
  • Performing minor technical tasks as required


  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams (for example, the user experience, design, web, technical content, quality assurance, support and product development teams)
  • High degree of initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • A high degree of computer and technological literacy
  • Experience in software project management specifically is not required, but demonstrated experience managing large projects will be useful
