The Position

KAA is looking for a talented and highly motivated coordinator and book designer to lead, manage, and grow our self-publishing division. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is equipped with superior customer service skills. This candidate is also disciplined enough to work offsite, and occasionally willing to travel to one of our offices when necessary (which will be rare and always paid for). This is a management position, with the opportunity to effectuate change in a growing division, as well innovate, initiate, and guide the growth of this division. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the entire self-publishing process, guiding the client from intake to design conceptualization, creation, finalization, to publishing on relevant platforms
  • Answer client questions, often of a complex and multifaceted nature
  • Design striking cover and interior designs that are indistinguishable from traditionally published books in the marketplace today
  • Maintain extensive knowledge and understanding of writing, editing, and publishing
  • Communicate with managers across company divisions while taking ownership of the self-publishing process and the clients’ experience

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, New Media, or an equivalent degree
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience at major, small, and independent publishing houses; candidates who have worked in creative agencies are also eligible
  • Location is flexible (YOU CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES), and telecommuting is preferred, but candidates must be available during weekday working hours of 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET

 

Skills and Competencies

  • A critical eye for design
  • A creative and independent thinker, but also able to execute a specific vision
  • Impeccable Customer Service Skills
  • Fluency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Familiarity with various Print-on-Demand publishing tools (e.g. Amazon Createspace, Lulu, Ingram, etc.) and other self-publishing platforms.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, and able to anticipate client’s needs and issues

 

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Salaried position with ample opportunity to increase in salary/bonus as the division grows.
